At the NIO IN 2024 NIO Innovation Technology Day, NIO founder, chairman, and CEO Li Bin announced that the world's first 5nm intelligent driving chip - Shengyuan NX9031 tape-out was successful.
As the industry's first high-end intelligent driving chip manufactured using 5nm automotive process technology, both the NIO "Shengyuan NX9031" chip and underlying software have achieved independent design. Shengyuan NX9031 has more than 50 billion transistors, and a self-developed chip can achieve the performance of four industry flagship chips in terms of both comprehensive capabilities and execution efficiency.

At this NIO IN, NIO also released China's first intelligent driving world model NWM (NIO World Model, NIO World Model).NWM is a multi-variate autoregressive generative embodied driving model that can fully understand data, has long-term sequence prediction and decision-making capabilities, and can deduce 216 possible scenarios within 100 milliseconds to find the optimal decision.
As a generative model, NWM can take a 3-second driving video as a prompt and generate a video that lasts up to 120 seconds. NWM also has an innate closed-loop simulation testing capability and has been fully tested and verified for performance in complex interactive scenarios.
In addition, the NIO Intelligent Driving Technology Architecture NADArch2.0 was officially released at the NIO IN 2024 NIO Innovation Technology Day.
NADArch2.0 has been upgraded in the algorithm layer to an end-to-end architecture that introduces a world model, generating driving decisions directly from raw sensor data, reducing information loss in traditional schemes. The prediction capability is stronger, making the intelligent driving experience safer and more human-like.
NIO announced that intelligent driving based on NADArch2.0 will be phased in to vehicles in the second half of this year.
